PARISH LIFE / CHURCH EVENTS

Wednesday Nights
Look for Wednesday night dinners and programs to restart in early 2010!!

Kids' Night Out
The local churches alternate in the planning and location of these evenings which are an opportunity for parents to have some free time, knowing that their children are in good hands. The hours are from 6:00 to 8:30 and the charge is $5.00. The evenings are for children in nursery school through fifth grade. They have snacks and planned activities as well as story and Bible readings.

Family Fun Night
One Wednesday night a month the children go to our local nursing home with board games to play and dessert to share with the residents.

Thanksgiving Service
Holy Eucharist is held on Thanksgiving Day at 10am in the Chapel.  Our local churches work together to give a dinner for the community with each church doing a certain part of the preparation and those tasks rotate each year. These dinners are held at the Highlands Recreational Park on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

Octoberfest

Put on your lederhousin and grab your beer mugs.  This yearly fellowship event is a wonderful way to begin the winter season.  Usually held in the early weeks of October, the whole parish comes together both in the kitchen at the table.  This event is the best way to meet new people and come together in an informal setting.

Advent and Christmas
Adult and Children's Sunday School classes will focus on Advent topics leading up to Christmas.  The greening of the church is another parish event and later, the de-greening. We also have an evening of Lessons and Carols. (and sometimes a visit from St. Nicholas), which will be held on Sunday, December 20th, 2009 at 5:30pm.

La Noche de Familia
Every Christmas we invite our Latino friends in the community to join us for a potluck supper, fellowship and programs of specific interest to them. These evenings are rotated between Incarnation, Highlands United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church. They are usually scheduled for a Sunday evening. As an outgrowth of these Las Noches, Incarnation gave a Cinco de Mayo celebration at the Highlands Conference Center which was attended by 175 people who enjoyed dinner, music, raffles and door prizes which had been contributed by businesses and individuals in the community.

Mardi Gras Celebration

Every year we gather in Jones Hall for a wonderful meal and festive gathering.  Led by several of our parishioners this traditional meal begins Lent with a BANG.  Our local bremaster is present with both non-acoholic rootbeer and traditional brews.  having so many members who grew up in New Orleans, our cooks give the authentic touch to all the dishes.  We end the evening with findng the Christ Child in a traditional King Cake.  This event should be a permanent addition to every calendar.

Lent
Wednesday nights suppers are a mainstay of our Lenten tradition at Incarnation.  We begin with stations of the cross at 5:00 and a light meal at 5:30.  Then a program is led by one of the clergy beginning at 6:00.

Feast Groups
Incarnation offers the opportunity to meet others in informal dinner settings throughout the year through participation in “Feast Groups” which meet once a month in the homes of members.
