Wedding Policy for The Church of the Incarnation, Highlands, NC
The Church of the Incarnation exists to proclaim
the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ through worship, love, and service.
As individuals and as a congregation, we dedicate ourselves to this
purpose.
Sacraments are a central expression of our
worship, love and service. Sacraments are an outward and visible sign of the
inward and spiritual grace, given by Christ as sure and certain means by
which we receive that grace.
Being blessed with beautiful surroundings and a beautiful facility, The
Church of the Incarnation gets many visitors. Therefore, offering
hospitality is very important to our church family. We understand the desirability to be married here,
however we set limitations for the sake of our volunteers.
For this reason, we provide the
following guidelines for those desiring to have their marriage blessed
at The Church of the Incarnation:
• The Bride and/or Groom must be an active Episcopalian(s) in “good
standing,” OR family of current members of Incarnation.
• The rector requests a letter from their current rector stating current
involvement at their home parish.
• Follow the Canons outlined for marriage and remarriage. (For a copy of
the canons, ask your current rector).
• It is the norm for the rector of The Church of the Incarnation to
perform the wedding.
• The couple, visiting clergy, and anyone providing services during the
liturgy (photographer, florist, wedding coordinator) must meet with the
rector of The Church of the Incarnation at least once before the wedding
rehearsal.
• All weddings will follow the services provided by The 1979 Book of
Common Prayer (no extra vows, or unity candles).
• All music must be approved by the music committee.
• No weddings during Lent.
If you feel you meet these guidelines, please call the
rector to complete an
application and receive a Wedding Packet with prices and further
guidelines.
