Reconciliation
Reconciliation of a Penitent
"Reconciliation of a Penitent, or Penance, is the rite in which those who repent of their sins may confess them to God in the presence of a priest, and receive the assurance of pardon and the grace of absolution."
— The Book of Common Prayer (1979)
God’s mercy is never out of reach. The sacrament of Reconciliation, sometimes called private confession, offers a space of honesty, healing, and renewal. In the quiet presence of a priest—who serves as a listening witness and offers assurance of God’s forgiveness—those who seek to unburden themselves can bring their sins into the light of grace.
This is not a ritual of shame but of restoration. In naming what is broken, we allow God to make us whole. Reconciliation is always available at Incarnation by appointment with a priest, and always offered in the spirit of gentleness and hope.
